PRESS RELEASE – RECITAL RESOURCES RESPONSE RESCUERS

Lake residents celebrated recent fundraising recitals by pianist Tom Nuckley, with a cheque presentation from Lake Methodist Church’s Edna Morris to Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat Coxswain Mark Birch, recent recipients of the Kings Award for Voluntary Service.

The presentation also included the award of a £2,000 grant, through Lake Parish Council, to maintain the weekly Warm Space provision at Lake Methodist Church.

Edna Morris said ‘The church and local community thank Tom for his programme of recitals at the Church, which helps our continual support of Mark and the lifeboat crew; and, with the provision of activities like Warm Spaces at the Church, we continue to be at the heart of the Lake Community.’

Lake Parish Council Chair, Cllr Paul Brading added ‘Lake’s fortunate to have dedicated individuals and groups, like the Church and SSIL, that put service before self, and I’d like to thank all of the volunteers for what has been achieved.’

Edna, Mark and Paul also unveiled a D Day 80 plaque next to the commemorative rose planted to recognise the events of 1944.
